In elementary school I remember very often asking my mom to check for lice. Not because I thought I had lice but because the feeling of her fingertips running through my hair was remarkably relaxing... there was really nothing like it.
I also remember scaring one of my friends away in grade 3 because I invited her over and we sat outside on the porch and I made her brush my hair... how rude and bossy.
Flash forward 20 years. At the hair salon, when its time to wash the dye out of my hair and the stylist is walking me to the sink I usually say something like "oh this is my favorite part" (wink wink, nudge nudge) hoping that she will just maybe spend a few extra seconds getting all that dye and shampoo out of my roots. I mean, does anyone not look forward to this part? I am actually really curious if there is someone out there that is like "Oh my gosh I cant stand when my hair gets washed at the hair dresser" like no, I don't think these people are out there.
Ok so, whatever I like the feeling of people playing with my hair. Big deal. No, that is not the point of this post. The point is (drum roll please) there is now a local spa that offers Indian Head Massages. If you haven't already, I highly suggest you treat yourself to this remedy. It's meditation served to you with a smile. You can't go wrong. Check out http://www.kluaneesthetique.com/ for more illumination. If you don't live in this area, then go hunt this service down at a spa near you, you wont regret it.
This blog is captivating and relatable! Keep up the great work, Gumshoe!
On the subject of having your hair washed, I have said for so many years when I went to the salon, that if I was very very rich I would have someone come into my home every morning to wash my hair. A long time ago, I fell on my head in a biking accident - I felt my brain squish against my skull. I was the first and only time I could feel this organ at all. Perhaps a good head massage gives our brain a little tenderness, something it never gets. Next time in Wakefield, I will book an appointment with Kluane Esthétique. In the meantime, I always hope Eric, my hair guy, guru and shaman, give…
Love the site! Love Y you're doing this. It feels authentic, down to earth, and honest. It's kind of analogous to good comedy in that the truth brings real interest to everyday life. Funny comedians are funny when the audience can relate AND when the perspective is downright hilarious. Based on your inaugural launch, you seem to ring these bells at a spiritual level. Looking forward to following you on this. As for head massage - YES - what a feeling of relaxation. THANK YOU!
