Self Talk. Don't Believe it All.

In today’s world, you can always have more. You can always worry about not having enough. You can always compare yourself to someone else. You can always blah blah blah, the list is endless.

The thing is, you can do all off the above OR you can choose.

You can choose to see all that you have, is all that you need.

This is a choice and in my opinion, one of the most important choices you have to make in life.

Lack mentality, is somewhat common I think, but if I had it my way, I would wave my magic wand and make it all disappear for everyone. I feel very rich in so many aspects of my life, but if I am not careful, I can easily fall into the shadow of my lack mentality which is based on generations of fear and definitely not the truth.

I’ve said this before in previous posts, but I’ll say it again. Just because you have certain thoughts, does NOT mean you have to listen to them. Choose wisely on which ones you listen to, because this is your reality and no one else’s. Recently, every time I catch myself having certain thoughts that I know aren’t real, I smile and talk back. I let these thoughts know that I’ve heard them but no longer believe them. Essentially, I am talking to myself and then talking back to myself… I know this sounds sort of crazy but it really works. You don’t necessarily have to talk to yourself out loud because that may seem a little funny walking down the aisle at the supermarket, but at least have, and visualize that conversation in your head.

In the past, if I had caught myself having a thought that I didn’t want, I would just try to ignore it or tell myself to stop thinking that way…. Obviously, this didn’t work because the same thoughts continued to appear. Making this subtle shift of acknowledging rather than ignoring, makes a world of a difference.

The more self aware, the more I can practice filtering.

As I go through this process, I realize I actually do have that magic wand.

So, to the reader, because I am unable to read your mind, I don’t know your untrue thought patterns. What I do know however, is I’m not alone on this, we all have some version of false thoughts that aren’t doing us any good. I encourage you to pay attention, find them, tell them they are wrong and that you know better.
